i'm an addict

it's been quite a while since i last read a good book. i may not look the part, but i love reading. i guess i could live alone on an island with a library of great books to keep me company. i think it runs in the family. well, i'm not sure who we got it from, but my older sister, as well as my older brother, loves reading as well.
i remember having a library card in marcopper's public library and i used to go there when my cousin's family was still living there. getting that library card was, for me, something of a priviledge, since we were not residents of marcopper and we only used to go there whenever there's a week off from school and only during school breaks (summer, and christmas breaks). the only time we stopped going there was when marcopper closed down.
i remember completing the hardy boys and the nancy drew collection, all the sweet valley books (yeah, starting from the sweet valley kids up until the sweet valley university), and then i also read books from r.l. stine.
when i was in high school, i started reading these really thick romance novels. i used to ask my brother to borrow from his friends (our school library didn't have such novels because it's too detailed) so i could read them.
when i was in college, my cousin introduced me to john grisham's novels. up til now, the only novels i haven't read from john grisham's collection are his newly released novels.
i stopped reading books/novels when i started to work. the first work i had, i was in the night shift, so when i got home, i would rather sleep than read. at times, if sleep won't come to me that easily, i would read until i fell asleep.
this tuesday, peepee and i went to dog city along e.rodriguez avenue to buy dog kibbles. they ran out of stock and it won't be back in their shelves until this saturday. we were running out of kibbles and wednesday is coding day, so we cannot buy kibbles until today. the kibbles at home is only good until wednesday, so we had to just go to this other store somewhere along tomas morato. the name of the store is pet studio.
good thing we went to pet studio. not only do they have the brand we wanted, they were also located right next to this used book store called bound. while peepee was inside petstudio haggling with the lady, i was outside Bound, looking for nice titles.
i found three novels (Fortune's Mistress, Deadly Rich, and Texas Heat). i just finished reading fortune's mistress last night, and i'm now starting to read deadly rich today. to anyone who loves reading as much as i do, but don't wanna shell out big bucks for a good book, try going to Bound. the three books i bought totaled 130Php! cheapskate!!

another subic tour in the making

as mentioned earlier, we plan on returning to subic. either on peepee's birthday celebration or on kuya alvin's birthday. which ever date is agreed on.

the plan is to go to zoobic safari in the morning, enjoy the animals and the environment. take pictures of everything there and stuff ourselves with food. next stop is ocean adventure. we wanted to watch the dolphin show. they said you could swim in the beaches there. but, instead of swimming there, we could go to this resort right next to it..Camayan Beach Resort.

can't wait for it. i'm excited! everything is all planned. we just have to set the date. yihee!!!

busted!

my pc's busted. don't know why. when i got home on sunday, my cousin told me there was something wrong with the monitor. i checked it, the screen was blank. green light's blinking, but nothing else was coming up. i unhooked it from the back of the tower, turned it on, and saw the rgb box going around the screen. wasn't able to read what's written because it was in korean. thought it had something to do with the video card. so, i called peepee up and told him what's wrong. he also said the video card's busted. easy to replace, right?! no. my sister bought the pc as a bundle (when i told her not to buy bundled pc's), so everything's onboard.
i told momma what's wrong and i told her that the video card was onboard so the entire mobo has to go. she asked how much it would cost to replace it. i told her i'm not yet sure. i plan on rebuilding the pc. i wanted to replace the motherboard and replace everything in it. i wanted to change the ODD to a dvd/cd combo drive. i also wanted to change the processor to a core 2 duo and add more HDD to it. i also plan on removing the floppy because it's so retro. i want to keep the casing, if i could, as well as my monitor.
so right now, we pay the monthly dsl dues but we cannot use the computer. it sucks! can't even check my blog at home!

subic tour

first of all, thanks coach berns and coach angie for letting us go on vto this saturday!
this weekend, we went to ocean view beach resort for an outing. we left the house a little after 4am. we got to ate malou's house to pick up kuya alvin and giro. we left their place at around 4:30 in the morning. we arrived at the resort around 7 in the morning.
the resort was huge. it had a small area for those who wanted to play airsoft. it had cabanas everywhere and the rooms were behind the cabanas. i would not recommend going to the beach because the resort itself was located in an area where there were huge ships all around. had it not been that the ships were there, it would've been a great resort. the sand was as fine as the sand in boracay, minus the color. there were a bit of oil in the sand (because of the giant ships).
we then went to the pool to swim and it was fun!
after swimming for the entire day, we went to zoobic safari. sadly, it was already closed when we got there, but we still were able to see some tigers, and a couple of pot-bellied pigs. we were also able to see very sociable goats. we then went to ocean adventure to ask their rates and we then went to camayan beach resort, also to ask for their rates.
we promised giro that we'd go there next time. either on peepee's birthday or kuya alvin's birthday.
we were on our way home. it was dusk and we just left camayan beach resort. on the way, peepee happened to see tons of bats waking up from their sleep and flying off to search for food. he pointed it out to giro, but he couldn't see it clearly. so we stopped at the shoulder of the road and they got off the car. i stayed on the car and took pictures instead. i didn't want guanos on me. i've experienced it before in marinduque, when we went to bathala cave and it felt like it was raining inside the cave because of the bat droppings and their urine.

i was having a bit of a problem getting the code for the slide show in subic, but i'll try it later.

skyview resort, antipolo

last weekend, peepee and i went swimming in antipolo. we went there with our friends, katkat, kenneth, and their son karl, earl, macoy, and their son tonton, ryan, jeph, andrew and riza, lea, and bernard. after about a week of scouting for resorts, we settled on skyview resort in antipolo.
we got there at around 8 or 9pm. macoy earlier made kare kare (it was yummy, by the way) and she heated it up as soon as we got there. after settling down, macoy and i started to prepare the dishes. jeph was the one who grilled the liempo (marinade was done by macoy, and it was yummy too!). i made the grilled eggplant salsa. i also made the stuffed tilapia, but it was ryan who grilled it for us. after stuffing ourselves with food, they took out the drinks and started the drinking session right away.
for anyone who wants to go swimming but doesn't wish to go that far, we would recommend looking for places in antipolo. i recommend the place we went to for those who wanted to go out of town for the weekend, but let me warn you, though, the water is not suitable for drinking. they give out five gallons of drinking water, for free. one more thing, though. about the pool's water, it tasted funny. and katkat and i itched. but, all in all, the place is great.

bad trip naman!

why do women have to hav monthly visitors? at sutil pa talaga, most of the time it arrives either the day before or on the day you are scheduled to have fun!
pa'no kaya if women doesn't have to have it? siguro, ang saya nun kase we could do almost anything without worrying when the next scheduled visit will be.
bukas na kase yung swimming e! of all times na pwede shang dumating baket ngayon pa? ang awkward naman if i swim tapos meron ako diba?
hmmm...think, think, think...
i read somewhere when i was in high school about tampons. i read that pwede mag swim while wearing them. i asked manet if it's true. apparently it is. i asked her where i could buy them. she said she isn't sure, pero ana said i could check with either mercury drug or watson's. why not, poknat?!

swimming in antipolo

this weekend, peepee and i, together with some of our friends, will go swimming in antipolo. peepee and i are still looking for a resort and we have one in mind. we still haven't decided if we are going to get it or not..

missy

this is missy and she's the best boston terrier that ever walked the planet..

i was looking at old pictures on peepee's pc when i came across this picture. she's missy and on april 14, 2009, it will be exactly one year after she died. i miss her so much. i remember i couldn't stop crying when she died. she died peacefully in my arms while i was rocking her and holding her like a baby. until now, i don't know how and why it happened. it was a weekday. i forgot why we went home that day. i was used to greeting missy first thing when i get home. when i went to her cage, i saw her lying down and she didn't seem to be her usual self. she was rarely put on her cage and whether she was there or not, she would instantly jump up and greet me with the loudest barks she could muster. she would even compete with our other dog, chubi, when greeting me. she would run as fast as she could so i could pick her up and carry her to the sofa and cuddle her.
on that day, she just raised her head up and looked at me and then she just went back to slouching in the corner of her cage. so, i went to her and asked her what's wrong. she then looked at me again, and that's when i saw it. her left eye was bulging out. i didn't know what to do. i told peepee about it and we went to her immediately.
my dad was the only person in the house at the time, so i asked him what happened. he said he didn't know and that it hadn't been five minutes since he put missy in her cage when we got home. he said that when he put missy in her cage, her eye was still ok. so, peepee and i checked if her other eye is still good. it was still ok. so, i put some eye drops on her eyes (celufresh-this was prescribed to me when i had dry eyes) because her left eye was beginning to dry out. i gave her antibiotics and had her drink water.
the next day, when we went back home, her eye looked as if it was dried out. i again put eye drops on it to moisten it. then, i noticed that she didn't eat her food. we were giving her kibbles so i thought it was painful for her to chew. so, i took alot of kibbles and pounded them with a hammer until they were powdered. and i started giving her that and milk instead of water. she would only lick it a few times and then she would go back to sleep. i tried giving her food every two hours, but she just refused to eat anything. what i did was i resorted to just giving her milk to nourish her in a way. she initially took a few sips of her milk but she refused to drink any more.
we took her to the vet (fil-chinese veterinary clinic) and the doctors were also asking what may have happened. they gave her more antibiotics and a gel to use on her eye.
good thing it was a saturday so peepee and i didn't have to go to work the next day. peepee stayed in our house, but he had to go home after a couple of hours because he had to help his mom clean the doggies. that was the last time peepee saw missy alive. saturday night, i was force feeding her the milk, i had a medicine dropper and i was using it to give her milk. since she has stopped eating, she was already limp and i always had to carry her on my lap, or carry her like a baby. when i give her milk, i made sure her head was elevated so the liquid won't go straight to her lungs.
monday night. i remember watching tv patrol while she was on my lap, limp and sleeping. during commercial breaks, i would give her milk. then, while i was taking a break from feeding her (the program started again and she was still on my lap), i just felt something hot on my left leg. i didn't what it was until i looked at it. missy was urinating on me. what's weird was because she peed a whole lot of liquid, when fact is, she was barely eating, let alone drinking.
and then it started. she breathed a couple of long, deep breaths and that was it. i kept nudging her and telling her to wake up. but she didn't. i immediately called peepee up and told her missy was gone. he immediately went over and when he got to our house, i was still holding missy in my arms. i just wouldn't let go of her. peepee brought with him a box and a lot of rags to cover missy up. we wanted to bury her and we still have yet to find the proper place for her. i was crying so bad when peepee took her and started wrapping her up. i even took me a few minutes to give her to peepee. i couldn't believe that my little missy was gone and that would be the last time that i'd get to see her.
the next day, i didn't go to work. i had to make sure that missy was ok. my brother and it went to PAWS (along recto avenue) to ask if we can bury missy there. they said no, for the reason that she wasn't their patient and that they don't do outpatient burial services. yeah, right.
so, after speaking with peepee on the phone, my brother and i decided to bring missy back to fil-chineses veterinary clinic. we asked the nurse if we could bury missy there. she said yes. i kept touching the top part of the box where missy's head was resting, bidding her goodbye. i couldn't stop my tears, and i had to cry for a moment while the nurse was filling out the receipt.
she then told us she will be buried in the afternoon, but she will be kept in the freezer for the meantime.
right now, i still have her as my desktop wall paper on my phone and i don't plan on changing it. that picture was taken in marinduque, while she was on the shore, basking in on the sun's warmth and just enjoying the day. i really miss her..

birthday celebrants

we have three people celebrating their birthdays this april: coach berns (april 10), ana marie (april 11), veron (april 12). veron brought pancit malabon which her mom cooked for us. mmm.. delicioso! and anne ordered mango and cashew roll and chocoloate roll from red ribbon. peepee ate the chocolate roll and i ate the mango roll. i was not a fan of mango cakes, but since i tasted it, i thought it was great pala.

new additions

manet and i were fussing about out blog templates and the add ons or gadgets that we wanted. i'm still thinking about other stuff to add.
i'm having a bit of a problem with the pin a note gadget. i don't know how it works. i've been asking manet to post a note and click on both the diskette icons on the new note and the one beside the folder icon. when i try it, it seems to be working fine, but when manet tries to post a note, i can't seem to see her note. right now, she can't test it pa kase she's changing nizeth's template. still have to run some tests on it..

punta riviera

this last weekend, manet, veron, and me tagged along team angie's team building in bolinao, pangasinan. we were supposed to leave ortigas at 11am (fine, siguro, give or take a few minutes). pero yung magaling na kuya driver arrived around 4pm. so, bad trip diba? instead na malapit na kame dun sa pupuntahan namen ng ganung time, e paalis pa lang kame ng ortigas.

tapos, i think we were in edsa, nasita pa si kuya driver ng mmda. we were again stalled (by a few minutes lang naman, kaya keri lang). we got to the first stop over sa tabang around 5 or 5:30pm but we didnt stop over to eat DQ. we all agreed na the stop overs should just be stop overs. no more, no less. parang yosi break and bio break lang. ganun.

while we were on the way, pooh and pokwang entertained us. actually, we were watching their show on the jeep's entertainment system (naks! sosi pakinggan, pero it's actually a dvd player hooked to a tv).

we didn't stop for dinner. we planned kase to eat dinner at the resort. e bad trip yung kuya driver, super late na kame tuloy nakapagdinner. we arrived at the resort around 10:30pm, and we still had to cook our dinner. buti na lang nagpabaon si jay-r ng chicken pork adobo so minus na yung iluluto (i have to say this, jay-r masarap yung adobo ma, in fairness. mejo oily lang sha).

after eating, we agreed to swim in the pool or walk at the beach. e nilagyan naman ng chlorine yung pool kaya di na kame nag swim. sayang, i already took a bath and changed into my swimsuit (costume change?!). i just changed (again) into my pajamas. we went to the beach and we just took a few shots. peejay and arthur played mock volleyball (it was close to midnight and it was dark, so there was no way to see the ball). we went to the very spot where the sand ended and the sea water started (we were very, very far from the shore at the time). afterwards, i was so stumped from the byahe, and i haven't slept that much (i had to login at the same time that peepee logged in). so when we got back to our rooms, it only took me a matter of seconds before i fell asleep. i woke up at around 6:30am. peepee said he was waking me up way before that, kase we agreed to catch the sun rise. sadly, i woke up late. so, after eating breakfast, we headed to the sea to take more pictures. then we were supposed to go kayaking in the river, but someone else (another group) were kayaking. we instead went to the pool to swim. peepee also got stung by a sea urchin on both feet so we had to go to the pool na lang. when we got to the pool, we took more pictures. we checked out of our room at 11am. we stayed at one of the resort's cottages in front of the pool. we were supposed to stay there until 5pm, but someone told us about this lighthouse and falls that were just within the vicinity. so we decided to go there before going home.

we first went to the lighthouse.we took more pictures of it and the magnificent view of the landscape and the sea. then, we went to the falls. the person we spoke to before at the beach told us that it was just 15 minutes away, but we had to prepare for more rough roads. we didn't know the area, so we had to ask the locals where the falls is located. we were told that the falls was called falls 2. so, when we asked the people where it is located, they didn't know where it was. little did we know that the name of the falls was Bolinao Falls and that it had 2 falls (falls 1 and falls 2). it was almost 5pm when we got to falls 1 and we were told that falls 2 was just 3 minutes away. we decided not to go to falls 2 because the area was so remote (as in!) and the road is so bumpy (as in highest level ng rough road) we feared the jeep might break down (paranoid in a way). when we got to falls 1, i thought it was worth the wait. we were told it is a virgin falls and no one has done anything to it yet. true to that person's word, the falls' bed was very clear. pero i wouldn't dare jump in kase super super malumot. the rocks on the bottom are colored green. and the area were the waters touch are moss green as well. so we settled with just taking several shots. the family who lived by the falls told us that falls 1 was not more of a swimming area, unlike falls 2. so, we have yet to see falls 2. maybe next time...
